The Westwood Youth Soccer Board has had much to be grateful for during this past year. Our participants have benefited from generous donations from several people and organizations both in this town and in neighboring towns. We would like to publicly acknowledge and thank the following that have donated so freely to our program.
Cabot, Cabot and Forbes: The Harvard Street Field, donated to the Town of Westwood, was used by our program to host soccer games, practices and clinics. We also had many players take advantage of the free Revolution Soccer Clinic hosted by CC&F on the new field and received rave reviews by all who attended! Karl Fogel, High School Athletic Director/Jane Murphy, Westwood Recreation Department: After a long awaited opening, Karl and Jane worked hard with youth soccer to ensure playing time on the new all-purpose field at the high school. We even concluded our season with a round-robin of games under the lights. Listening to the excitement in the players’ voices as they walked on to that field was a wonderful thing to hear. For some players, our youth program is their only opportunity to play on the beautiful new soccer field.
High School Varsity Soccer Coaches Eladio Sanchez and Leslie Frank: These coaches, along with their JV and freshman coaches and varsity players, conducted a free clinic for our 8th graders. It was well attended by our 8th grade players and was a great introduction to the high school program.
We would also like to thank the many businesses that donated items to our Annual Soccer Social. The generosity of these businesses helps make our event a big hit for the coaches and parents that attend.
Soccer Spot, Needham: Charlie Calcagnis, Owner, President: donated 16 “centerpieces” made up of gift cards and soccer gear! Vellos, Westwood: each year, Vellos supports us with several gift certificates Starbucks, Westwood: donated a delicious basket of goods Dick’s Sporting Goods, Dedham: the new kid on the block, but willing to donate a generous gift card. The New England Revolution Soccer orgnization; donated 4 tickets to any 2007 season game and an autographed poster of the New England Revolution team.
