Crime Watch: $20,000 missing from books at Know-Fat

What drugs are in my neighborhood?

The state classifies drugs under five categories:

A. Heroin and other opiates such as morphine; some designer drugs such as GHB and ketamine (special K).

B. Cocaine; prescription opiates such as OxyContin/Oxycodone; LSD; ecstasy; amphetamine; and methamphetamine.

C. Prescription tranquilizers; mescaline; psilocybin/mushrooms; peyote; and some medium doses of prescription drugs.

D. Marijuana; chloral hydrate; and some lesser doses of prescription drugs.

E. Lighter doses of prescription narcotics.

 

No Money at Know-Fat

An employee at Know-Fat Lifestyle Grille at 222 Arsenal St. told police on Aug. 9 at 12:30 a.m. that there is a discrepancy in the bookkeeping. Over the past six months to a year, up to $20,000 has reportedly been missing from their accounts. Police are investigating.

Slash and dash

Three Chevy vans used by D&R Electric on 112 Dexter Ave. were not found in the best condition to drive the morning of Aug. 6 after employees there found their tires slashed. According to a police report, the vandalism happened sometime after 9 the night before while the vans were parked in the company’s storage area. Police are investigating.

Domestic assault

Andrew McMullen, 17, of 46 Philip Darch Road, was arrested and charged with assault and battery on Aug. 7 at 2 p.m.

Stove stolen from lawn

While doing renovation working inside his kitchen, a Maple Street resident discovered that the gas stove he removed and placed outside in his yard had been stolen. According to reports made on Aug. 6, the resident told police around 10:30 a.m. that the $200 stove was placed at the side of his house and has been missing since Aug. 3. He reported that a drill and wooden broom were also taken from the front porch.

Domestic assault

Vartan Abraham Soukiasian, 32, of 10 Oakley Road, was arrested and charged with assault and witness intimidation on Aug. 9 at 6:52 p.m.

Home Depot thief found with heroin

Security officers spotted a suspicious man inside Home Depot on Arsenal Street. The man was rolling a carriage around with four spools of wire worth $647 inside. They witnessed the man wheel past the cash registers and out the door without paying for the merchandise. Security detained the suspect, later identified as Ryan Carter, 35, of 75 Palmer St. in Quincy, until police arrived. Police searched Carter at the station and allegedly found a brown powdery substance, believed to be heroin, folded inside a piece of paper in his wallet.

Carter was arrested and charged with shoplifting and possession of a Class A substance.

Not-so-Goodwill

An Edenfield Avenue resident reported to police on Aug. 7 that three large bags of clothing were taken from the front porch. The clothing, worth a total of $150, was bagged to be donated to Goodwill, but was allegedly stolen between the hours of 12:30 and 3:30 p.m.

Thrown green tomatoes

A Piermont Street resident called police on Aug. 12 to report three teenage boys had thrown green tomatoes at her home. According to reports, the resident saw the teens across the street that night, and heard objects hitting the door and front of her house. The next morning, the resident spotted three marks on the front porch and side of the house and three green tomatoes on the ground.

Domestic assault

Denis Ansah, 46, of 784 Massachusetts Ave. in Boston, was arrested and charged with assault and battery on Aug. 9 at 11:24 p.m.

Personal files snatched from home

In a report made Aug. 6, a Union Street resident reported that some time after July 24, someone broke into her home and stole personal files from a file cabinet. There were no signs of forced entry.

Check, cash and change taken from truck

The driver of a Ford pick-up reported on Aug. 8 that someone entered the unlocked car while it was parked on Morrison Road and stole $62 in cash, a cashier’s check worth $750 and $2 in loose change. The victim claimed the car was parked at 8:30 the night before. He discovered the money missing at 10 the next morning. 

Fourteen arrests

According to Capt. Thomas Rocca, during the week of Aug. 6 and Aug. 12, the Police Department responded to 529 calls for service and/or assistance, which resulted in fourteen arrests, three for domestic violence, eight warrants, two for protective custody and one for shoplifting/larceny.
