Celebrate Somerville's sweet invention Sept. 29

Somerville -It’s been 90 years since Archibald Query made Fluff in Somerville.
That’s something to celebrate.
The folks over at Union Square Main Streets will be hosting the second What the Fluff? Festival on Sept. 29.
Come for the contests, stay for the recreation of the Prospect Hill Tower in Rice Crispies Treats.
Starting at 4 p.m., bands and the ladies from Through the Keyhole Burlesque will perform as the Flufferettes, the dancing ladies of the 50s Fluff commercials. Have fun in the Fluff Lick Off or the Fluffernutter relay.
Entrants are still sought for the cooking contest. The winner gets to visit the Durkee Mower Fluff
factory. Other big prize Main Streets staffers are working on is a helicopter ride "among the
marshmallowy clouds" for the person who guesses the correct number of
marshmallows in a jar.
Can’t wait for a preview? Get a taste of Fluff all over Union Square. At Sherman Café you'll find Fluffernutter sandwiches (with or without bananas) and plain or Nutella Rice Crispies Treats. Also ask at your local bar for Fluff-inspired cocktails.
