SHARON -Mark your calendars for Thursday, August 2. That is the official date of Post Office Square’s thirteenth annual "Square Jam," Town Administrator Ben Puritz announced at Tuesday’s selectmen’s meeting.
The "high-energy summer music festival" will be a "celebration of community, the revitalization of Post Office Square, and joys of summer," said Puritz.
The Jam is slated to take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will feature the James Montgomery Blues Band. Montgomery is a legendary harmonica player who has toured with such popular acts as Bruce Springsteen, Aerosmith, the Allman Brothers, and Bonnie Raitt.
Crescent Ridge will be serving free ice cream for the event, and Ward’s farm will offer free grilled corn. Roads leading into Post Office Square will be closed to make way for the "street fair atmosphere" described by Puritz.
More than 500 people are expected to come out for the event, which is sponsored by Eastern Bank (formerly Sharon Co-Operative Bank) and NSTAR.
