Selectmen balk at severance

PLYMOUTH -

Some selectmen say future town manager contracts may look a little different from the one signed with Town Manager Mark Sylvia, in light of a check for $101,214 Sylvia is contractually entitled to receive when he leaves office Feb. 10.

    The town has declared a parking ban in a designated zone in and around downtown Plymouth from 1:30 to 6 a.m. Sunday, in anticipation of the snow storm forecast to start Saturday evening, to allow crews to clear the full width of the roads.

    Only seven games into the season, the Plymouth North hockey team is already half way to the promised land. The Eagles’ 3-0 win over Dennis-Yarmouth Wednesday night at the Armstrong Rink gave them a 5-2 record, exactly half the wins they need to get to the playoffs for the first time in several years.

    After taking a couple steps forward over the weekend with a convincing 6-2 win over Dennis-Yarmouth, the Plymouth South hockey team took a step backward Wednesday night in a 4-0 loss to Falmouth.

    Sacred Heart 58, Plymouth South 54 (OT) - The Lady Panthers dropped to 1-7 on the season Thursday night after a 58-54 overtime loss to Sacred Heart. Audrey Medeiros scored 14 points and Melissa Rodden as well as Tayla Andrews added 12 points in the loss.

  • Davis promoted to president, COO at GateHouse Media

    Kirk Davis has been named president and COO of GateHouse New England’s parent company. He will be replaced by Rick Daniels, who has been appointed president and CEO of the New England group, which publishes this Wicked Local Plymouth Web site, the Old Colony Memorial and the Plymouth Bulletin.
