Below is a list of July 4 events and fireworks celebrations available before our MotherTown deadline, some local, some requiring a road trip. All events are free. Some communities may not have made arrangements as of yet; call your local fire department to check.
Lancaster: Perkins School annual fireworks, 971 Main St., Lancaster, at dusk
Harvard: Part of Harvard’s 275th anniversary celebration. From 6 to 9 p.m. in the center of town, a lawn party with local bands, food, hats, t-shirts and glow sticks on sale, with fireworks shot off from Bear Hill Pond at dusk. Rain date is July 7.
Worcester: East Park, 200 Shrewsbury St., at dusk. Rain date is July 5.
Boston: Concert on the Oval in front of the Hatch Shell, opens at 4 p.m., Boston Pops concert from 8:30 to 10 p.m. The Oval only allows collapsible chairs and tarps no bigger than 5 by 7 feet.
Boston: Annual concert and fireworks on the Esplanade. The Oval opens at 9 a.m., the Boston Pops Concert is from 8:30 to 10 p.m. and fireworks begin at 10:30 p.m. The Oval only allows collapsible chairs and tarps no bigger than 5 by 7 feet. Other performers during the day to be announced.
Lincoln: Annual Fourth of July celebration. Registration for the 2.5 or 4 mile Firecracker Run from 8 to 8:30 a.m. at the town office building; children’s bicycle parade at 10 a.m., town parade at 10:30 a.m., fireworks at 9 p.m. at the Lincoln public schools. Other day time events to be announced.
Clinton: Annual fireworks courtesy of the Clinton Fire Department, at the Veterans Athletic Complex (across from the middle and high schools), dusk.
