Melrose -
OutLoud at the Beebe

Every month, artists, singers, songwriters and poets perform in front on a microphone at the Beebe Estate Gallery, as part of the OutLoud at the Beebe Open Mike Coffee House.

Recently, we sent staff photographer David Sokol to the Beebe to photograph some of the artists during the group’s evening of music, poetry, and prose, called “Places Near, Far, Within.” The event, held Feb. 21, included local poets Tom Sheehan, from Saugus, and Ric Amante.

The Outloud events are held monthly at the Beebe Estate Gallery, 235 West Foster St., Melrose. Parking is available on the grounds. Open Mike sign-up begins at 7:15 p.m., with performances and readings taking place from 7:30-9:30 p.m. There is never a cover charge, though organizers accept donations, which are distributed to charities. Starbucks of Melrose provides coffee and tea, and the program also receives financial support from a grant awarded by the Melrose Cultural Council, a local agency of the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
