Five earthquakes, chopstick etiquette, giant Buddhas, squat toilets and watching students clean up their school after class were just some of the surprises for Marshfield High School students on a 10-day trip to Japan.

Around Town -- Help bring back a playground
Marshfield -Consider participating in a fundraiser golf tournament on Oct. 27. Sponsored by the Marshfield Country Club, the tournament will benefit Marshfield Kids at Play (MKAP), an organization dedicated to creating a new playground in Marshfield.

Attendance down slightly from last year
Marshfield -The crowds finally came to the Marshfield Fair last week, bringing the number of visitors close to that of last year’s before the close of the fair Sunday.

Some charges dropped against fair employee
Marshfield -According to his defense attorney, prosecutors will have trouble pursuing a case against Jeffrey Witham, 18, of Oxford, Maine, a fair worker accused of raping two underage teenagers he met at the Marshfield Fair.
