A Fall Rummage Sale, presented by the Women's Fellowship of the First Church in Marlborough, Congregational, will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18, 6 to 8 p.m., and Friday, Oct. 19, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dollar bags will be on sale Friday, from noon to 1 p.m. There will be an abundance of clothes for all ages as well as books, utensils, small appliances, linens, chinaware, pots, pans and more. First Church is located on Bolton Street (Rte. 85) at High Street, just above Union Common, in Marlborough.
The VFW Post 638 Annual Steak Bar-B-Q will be held Sunday, Oct. 7, 3 to 7 p.m. at the Post, 17 Fitchburg St. The menu includes steak, baked potato, corn on the cob, and tossed salad. Kids can eat hamburgers and hot dogs for free. The cost is $10 per adult. For tickets, call the VFW club at 508-229-0790 or Ann Renaud at 508-481-7211. Entertainment will be provided by Jim Holt. The cut off date to purchase tickets is Oct. 3.
A Day 4 Andre will be held Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Hudson Elks Pavilion, Hudson. There will be live bands, a disc jockey, family style barbecue and lots of kids activities such as face painting, balloon animals, bouncy rides and more. A cash bar will be available. Individual tickets are $25 and children under 12 are admitted free. The event will benefit the Manganaro family who were victims of a terrible tradgedy on June 29 when 10-year-old Andre Manganaro suffered severe head injuries when the car he was riding in was struck by an out of control car in Stow. Proceeds of the charity event will aid the family with medical bills and other costs necessary for Andre's treatment and recovery. Members of the St. Stephen Lutheran Church will hold a Fall Yard Sale Saturday, Sept. 29, 8 a.m. until noon, with household items and gifts, children's toys and games, small appliances, books, sporting equipment, glassware and jewelry as well as videos and CDs. The church is located at 537 Bolton St. (Rte. 85) in Marlborough (between the Navin skating rink and Piccadilly Pub restaurant).
The Women's Fellowship of the First Church in Marlborough, Congregational, will meet Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. At this time, President Janet Yurkus will run the business meeting. The public is welcome to attend. First Church is located on Bolton Street (Rte. 85) at High Street, just above Union Common.
The next meeting of the GFWC Marlborough Junior Woman's Club will be held Tuesday, Oct. 2, 7 p.m., at New Horizons, 370 Hemenway St. Join Juniors for their annual Soup and Salad meeting. Bring your muffin tins to sample all the offerings. Come hear all about the community projects MJWC has planned for the upcoming year. The GFWC Marlborough Junior Woman's Club is a non-profit civic organization dedicated to community improvement through volunteerism. On Saturday, Sept. 29, the Peter Rice Homestead will join museums and cultural institutions across the country by participating in "Museum Day," a nationwide event where participating museums and cultural institutions across the country offer free admission. Stop by between 1-3 p.m. to take a tour or learn more about our research facility. For other museums offering free admission check out Smithsonian.com.
The Tenants Association at 240 Main St. set up a booth at the Marlborough Hospital Auxiliary's Flea Market held recently on the Hospital's front lawn. Officers of the Tenant Association manned the table of donated goods. The group was helped by Marlborough High School Junior, Amanda Cain-Mailly whose family helped by donating some items for sale.
