Dr. Ramas V. Raman, 59, a successful corporate executive for Entegris Corporation died suddenly on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008. He was the loving husband of Dale Raman of Santa Clara, Calif.

He was born in Shantinikatan, West Bengal, India. He earned his doctorate degree in materials engineering.

Dr. Raman was the chairman of the ASM International Chapter in Santa Clara, Calif., and a member of the Boston chapter. He won numerous awards, authored numerous publications and holds several patents. He was the director of OEM marketing for Praxair Electronics. He joined Surmet Corporation of Burlington in 2003. He was currently a corporate executive for Entegris Inc.

Phyllis I. English, 75, formerly of Lexington and Marlborough, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, in Cape Coral. She was the wife of the late Jerome M. English.

She was born in Somerville on Sept. 3, 1932, the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Fitzgerald) and Louis Giroux. She was a graduate of Middlesex Community College. Mrs. English lived in Lexington for 20 years and Cape Coral for the last four years.

Mrs. English owned two businesses, Two Worlds Gift Shop in Lexington and Marlborough Travel Agency.

Mr. Keeping's wide-ranging interest included travel, the outdoors, Boy Scout leadership, crosswords and calculus, rooting for the Red Sox and after moving to Carleton-Willard, he enjoyed billiards.

LEXINGTON — Clifford H. Blake, 89, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Brighton. He was the beloved husband of Jayne Taylor (Bricker) Blake.

He was born in Hudson Falls, N.Y., on June 3, 1919, the son of the late Katharine (Linehan) and Clifford H. Blake. He attended the University of Illinois and Pittsburgh University.

Mr. Blake was a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was awarded a purple heart, and the Air Force Commendation Medal.

He was a daily communicant of St. Brigid Church in Lexington.

Marilyn M. Cady

NORTON — Marilyn M. (Woodis) Cady, 80, of Norton, where she has been living for 20 years, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at the Life Care Center in Raynham. She was the wife of Edmund Cady.

She was born in Orange, the daughter of the late Willard and Marguerite (Frye) Woodis. She was a graduate of Lexington High School, Leslie College, and Framingham State College.

Marilyn was a former 25-year resident of Wrentham, and retired in 1998 after 33 years as a teacher in Plainville, where she developed the Title I reading program.

She loved the ocean, traveling, reading and writing, square dancing, collecting rocks and making jewelry, playing cards, especially Millebourne, and spending time with her family.

Marilyn was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star in Lexington, Original Congregational Church in Wrentham, and the Lake Winnecunent Association.

Mrs. Fone was a member of the Lexington Arts and Crafts Society, and Eastern Star. She was a member of the Lexington Unitarian Church on the Green.

Forestine Phebe Cole

Mrs. Cole was the treasurer of Anderson Transfer Co. Inc., owned by Mr. and Mrs. Cole. It specialized in delivering medical supplies to hospitals and pharmacies for Abbott and Massachusetts branches of other pharmaceutical companies.

The Lexington Minuteman will publish, free of charge, the obituaries of residents, former residents and close relatives of residents. Recent photos are welcome and will be returned if accompanied by an addressed envelope.

Submitted obituaries must contain a name and daytime telephone number where the party sending the obituary can be reached for verification.

Obituaries should be received by the paper no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday of the week of publication. Every effort will be made to print obituaries in a timely manner; however, publication cannot be guaranteed in the same week’s edition if the obituary is received after deadline.
