On thin ice: Chiefs warn of winter dangers
Easton -As winter sets in, many people are eager to pull out ice skates, hockey sticks and fishing gear as they venture into the cold and onto local ponds. But area fire chiefs urge caution and offer some safety tips for anyone considering a day on the ice.

40 percent of Oliver Ames High students stay home after threats
EASTON -Police officers stationed at the entrances to Oliver Ames High School checked IDs and bags this morning as a precaution when the school re-opened without incident after what appeared to be a threat mentioning Jan. 5 was found written in a bathroom a few weeks ago. No problems were reported.

EPD receives grant, to conduct compliance checks
Easton -
Chief Thomas Kominsky has announced that the Easton Police Department has been awarded a $5,000 grant, which was made available by the EOPSS-HSD (Executive Office of Public Safety and Security - Highway Safety Division). The 2009 Underage Alcohol Enforcement Grant is federally funded and made available to law enforcement agencies throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
