LETTER: Candidate's true colors revealed

Clinton -To the editor:
On Friday, April 27, the Worcester Telegram & Gazette ran a story “Candidate Web site comments rankle” this was regarding my opponent for Planning Board Tony G.P. Marini, where he accused me of providing the “postings” that he made on an Internet site. Let me be very clear I did not do this.
Tony Marini wrote the bigoted postings and he brought this exposure upon himself. I will comment on this disgusting Web site and the racist, sexist and homophobic postings that have been placed there in the past (not to distant past) 80-plus, this has no place in our town; it brings no good to our community town. The “postings” that Mr. Marini has put on that Web Site should cost him his town position, he should resign in disgrace. His words and those of his clan of supporters cut to the very core of what is wrong in today’s society.
The proper color of red signs for selectman this year reflects a person, who aligns himself in support for Mr. Marini, it is an appropriate color for it should remind us all to stop and question their integrity. The intelligence of this clan per the record at the Web site www.clintonmass.us is full of ignorant degrading statements that require the Clinton voters to say enough is enough. We should not tolerate such bigoted opinions to run our town of Clinton
Those candidates and sitting public officials who boast such great academic achievement yet allow themselves to be supported by those who thrive in divisive and hurtful commentary should not be given the public trust to lead our community. This site and the clan’s commentary is so bad that the “ring leader” had to go clean it all up so the public of Clinton would not see the truth and the dark thoughts of this group.
For years many of these people felt it was OK to hide behind pen names when posting their ignorant commentary, then a few of them were elected and then the cloaks started to come off, not knowing the risk of exposure their comments would bring down on them.
Let us not travel back in time via the Internet to the 1800s when women had no rights and people of color had no rights. In closing I would put these questions to all those well-educated clan of supporters — Why? Why is OK to think women are not as qualified as men to be engineers? Why is it OK to make fun of people of color? Why is it OK to beat someone up and “leave marks” because of their sexuality? Let me help you out the answer is it is not OK!
Send the message on May 7. You the voter turn the light on these folks and show them that this is not what Clinton is in favor of. Yes change is indeed needed.
