Ballard soars, but Falcons fall to Medford

After an extremely forgettable performance in the opening game of the James Mulloy Holiday Tournament against Somerville, Cambridge goalie James Ballard stepped up in a big way in the consolation game against the Medford Mustangs Dec. 30 in Everett. However, it was not enough, as the Falcons were defeated, 4-2 in a gritty, hard-fought affair.

Simoni Rink holding ice-skating lessons

The Veterans Memorial Rink in Somerville and Simoni Rink in Cambridge are holding ongoing ice-skating lessons. Classes are available to children ages 4-1/2 and up, as well as adults. Instructors teach recreational, figure and hockey skating skills to beginner, intermediate and advanced skaters.

The CRLS sailing team was chosen as to be one of four schools to represent New England at the Great Oaks Invitational National Regatta in New Orleans, Nov 15 - 16. There were 28 US teams from as far away as Seattle, Hawaii, and the Virgin Islands.

Missed opportunities sink Cambridge against Somerville

With all due respect to the annual Thanksgiving game between Everett and Cambridge, the real rivalry for the Falcons has been, and always will be, with the Somerville Highlanders. Fueled by geographic proximity and generations of mutual dislike, the two teams squared off last Friday at Dilboy Field, each with a strong motivation to defeat their archrival. In the end, it was Somerville who emerged triumphant, defeating the Falcons, 28-26.

Falcons lose heartbreaker to Malden, 24-21

At first glance, it would appear that the Malden Golden Tornadoes defeated the Cambridge Falcons, 24-21 Friday night at Russell Field in both teams’ Greater Boston League opener. However, depending on whom you ask, you could also argue that a potential victory was taken away from the Falcons.
