Cops nab teen for shooting alleged drug dealer in buttocks

Police arrested a 17-year-old Cambridge teen Monday on charges he shot an alleged drug dealer on a city sidewalk over the weekend. Wesley Thorpe, of 126 Hampshire St., was arrested at his home on warrants for assault with the intention to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Cops also arrested 18-year-old Herbert S. Marshall Jr., the reported drug dealer Thorpe allegedly shot Saturday night. Police found Marshall shot in the buttocks in front of 55 Hampshire St. Saturday at 10:06 p.m. In the moments after Marshall was shot, he limped to a nearby alley, where he allegedly stashed a bag full of crack cocaine and other drugs, police said.

Police use Internet to arrest alleged armed robbers

Cambridge police arrested three alleged armed robbers during a Thursday night sting after the suspects allegedly tried to sell their stolen goods to police. Somerville detectives — collaborating with Cambridge detectives — made arrangements to meet Casey R. Kolenda to buy a cell phone — allegedly stolen during an armed robbery — at the Porter Square T station Thursday night. Police said they contacted the Kolenda, who allegedly posted the phone on Craigslist, to set up a meeting.

Man charged with drugging woman’s coffee with sleeping pill

A judge ordered a 36-year-old New York man held without bail Thursday on charges he allegedly drugged a woman’s coffee with a sleeping pill and brought her back to his hotel room. During a business meeting, Seung H. Han put a sleeping pill in a coffee he bought for the woman at a Cambridge Dunkin’ Donuts, according to Han’s defense attorney and prosecutors. “The next thing she knew, she woke up in a hotel room,” prosecutor Joseph Gentile told the court Thursday.

Man screams, thwarts armed robber

Police responded to an attempted armed robbery on Pleasant Street Sept. 14 at 5 a.m. A 60-year-old Cambridge man told police he was getting into his car when a man rode up to him on his bike and pretended to be looking for directions. The victim gave the suspect directions after the suspect said he had ridden all the way from Brookline and he was looking for Central Square, police said. The suspect then allegedly dropped his bike on the ground, took out a small, folding knife about 2 to 3 inches long and demanded the victim’s backpack, police said. The suspect then got back onto his bike and fled toward Central Square when the victim screamed for help, according to police reports. The suspect is described as a 20- to 25-year-old black man who was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and a do-rag. Read more police briefs.

Crime task force to hold public forum

The task force charged with presenting the City Council with a long-term plan to curb violent crime in the city plans to hold a citywide public forum next week. A week ago, it looked as if the same task force had painted itself into a bit of a corner. By seeking the input of the City Council on when to hold a public forum — scheduled for Sept. 25 in the Sullivan Chamber at City Hall — the task force could have inadvertently delayed the release of its final report.

Ave. for reports of someone creating a disturbance inside the café Sept. 6 at 6:49 a.m. Harvard Police arrested Stephen Gittens, 46, of 58 Allston St., and charged him with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of assault and battery on a police officer, malicious destruction of property over $250, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
