A 25-year-old Cambridge man was robbed at gunpoint in North Cambridge Sunday night, just days after residents expressed outrage about gun violence in their neighborhood at a meeting with police.
The victim told police he walked out of Rindge Field and was walking on Dudley Street towards Jackson Street at 9:25 p.m. when three men in hooded sweatshirts robbed him with a semiautomatic handgun.
There were no arrests in the case as of Tuesday afternoon, according to police spokesman Frank Pasquarello.
Police said the men had their hood sweatshirts pulled so tightly around their faces that only their eyes and nose were showing. The armed robbery happened near public housing at Jefferson Park and Jackson Circle and police are reviewing video surveillance cameras set up by the Cambridge Housing Authority, said Pasquarello.
The victim told police one man pulled out a black semiautomatic handgun with a tan handle, while the other two men demanded his bag, according to police reports.
Police said the robbers took the victim’s black messenger bag, which contained a cell phone, birth certificate, two checkbooks and credit cards. All three suspects then fled on Jackson Street towards Rindge Avenue, according to reports.
The first suspect — who was holding the gun — is described as an 18- to 20-year-old black man who is five-feet 10-inches with a medium build. He was last seen wearing white sneakers and a black hooded sweatshirt. The second suspect is described as an 18- to 20-year-old black man who is five-feet 10-inches with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. The third suspect is described as an 18- to 20-year-old black man who is five-feet eight-inches with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt.
