A Cambridge man has been charged with five criminal offenses stemming from a series of obscene calls he allegedly made to a Boston radio station late last year, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Police said 85-year-old Helen Chin of Medford died Tuesday night after a car fatally hit her in Cambridge.

Thanks to members of the Cambridge Police Department and the Cambridge Housing Authority, over 100 senior citizens were surprised on Christmas Eve morning with a holiday gift bag or basket filled with holiday treats.

Police Officer John Jones responded to Raymond Street at 11:30 p.m. Christmas Eve for a report of an armed robbery. The victim, a 31-year-old Cambridge man, told police he was talking on his cell phone in his driveway when a three teens robbed him a knifepoint.

Neighborly agitation between two middle-aged men turned to fisticuffs after their street was left with limited parking spots after the weekend snowstorm.

Officer Daniel Burroso responded to the Garden Street side of the Cambridge Common for a report of vandalism Dec. 26.

The identity of a 50-year-old man who was killed by a Red Line train at Kendall Station last Friday is still unknown as MBTA police are continuing to investigate the case.

Firefighters responded to Whole Foods this morning after a pile of wood stored in front of the store set fire. Fire crews went to the market on Alewife Brook Parkway at 2 a.m. to extinguish a working fire that shattered two glasses windows and damaged some of the store’s food products.

A Christmas tree was burned to the ground inside of a NorthPoint apartment complex on Christmas Eve. No one was hurt, according to Deputy Fire Chief John Gelinas, but the tree was completely incinerated. Five residents have been displaced from their home and received assistance from the Red Cross.

A 37-year-old Waltham man reported he stopped on Church Hill Avenue near Matignon High School at about 3:30 p.m. Dec. 18 when the driver in the black Mazda behind him began honking his horn. The Waltham man and other driver got out of their cars, and the Mazda driver allegedly spat in his face and began yelling at him.

Police said an armed robber wearing a red T-shirt-style mask with holes cut out for his eyes held up a local convenience store last week.
