Cambridge man charged with threatening radio station employees

A Cambridge man has been charged with five criminal offenses stemming from a series of obscene calls he allegedly made to a Boston radio station late last year, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley announced. “If someone finds a radio show that upsetting, the appropriate response is to change the channel,” Conley said.

Elderly Medford woman fatally hit by car in Cambridge

Police said 85-year-old Helen Chin of Medford died Tuesday night after a car fatally hit her in Cambridge.

Firefighters battle blazes around Cambridge

On Dec. 30 at 5:55 p.m., a three-story home at 16 Cogswell Ave. suffered from a fire that was contained on the second floor. Deputy Fire Chief John Gelinas said the fire was accidental and is still under investigation. Damages have been estimated at $40,000.

Police briefs: Teens rob man in his driveway on Christmas Eve

Police Officer John Jones responded to Raymond Street at 11:30 p.m. Christmas Eve for a report of an armed robbery. The victim, a 31-year-old Cambridge man, told police he was talking on his cell phone in his driveway when a three teens robbed him a knifepoint.

Men wrestle over parking spots in post-snowstorm fight

The identity of a 50-year-old man who was killed by a Red Line train at Kendall Station last Friday is still unknown as MBTA police are continuing to investigate the case.

Woodpile outside Whole Foods sets fire

Firefighters responded to Whole Foods this morning after a pile of wood stored in front of the store set fire. Fire crews went to the market on Alewife Brook Parkway at 2 a.m. to extinguish a working fire that shattered two glasses windows and damaged some of the store’s food products.

Tree torched on Christmas Eve

A Christmas tree was burned to the ground inside of a NorthPoint apartment complex on Christmas Eve. No one was hurt, according to Deputy Fire Chief John Gelinas, but the tree was completely incinerated. Five residents have been displaced from their home and received assistance from the Red Cross.

Police briefs: Road rager smashes driver’s window with baseball bat

A 37-year-old Waltham man reported he stopped on Church Hill Avenue near Matignon High School at about 3:30 p.m. Dec. 18 when the driver in the black Mazda behind him began honking his horn. The Waltham man and other driver got out of their cars, and the Mazda driver allegedly spat in his face and began yelling at him.
