Sign a petition to stop the Pike Hike and go the Stop the Pike Hike Rally tomorrow. Personally I find it funny that the rally is going to be at a restaurant/bar.
Former governor candidate Christy Mihos will be there to speak. I love this political ad of his from a couple of years ago.

Exotic “pets” are illegal in Massachusetts

In case you were wondering, it is illegal to have an exotic animal as a pet. That means alligators, sugar gliders, monkeys, giraffes, lions, rhinos, dinosaurs and most likely Smurfs.
“Many people assume that any animal they can purchase in another state or over the Internet is legal to possess in Massachusetts,” said Dr. Tom French, assistant director of the Division of Fisheries and Wildlife’s Natural Heritage & Endangered Species Program. “This is simply not true. Our regulations are restrictive to the point that we publish only what you possess, rather that what you may not. Only museums, nature centers, or educational institutions are granted permits for many kind of wildlife. The goal of these regulations is to protect both the interests of wildlife and the public.”
French recommends doing business with reputable pet stores rather than going through the Internet or classified ads.
If you know about an illegal wild or exotic animal being kept as a pet you should contact the Environmental Police at 1-800-632-8065 or MassWildlife at 508-389-6300.
More signatures to run for city council

Bob Katzen of Beacon Hill Roll Call reports the House approved and sent to the Senate a bill increasing the number of signatures a candidate needs to run for the Boston City Council from 500 to 1500.
This legislation was approved early in the year by Mayor Tom Menino and the City Council.
The number was lowered from 1500 to 500 in the early 1990s to help out Councilor Dapper O’Neil, who had trouble getting the higher number signatures.
The purpose of the measure to increase the number is to make it more difficult for fringe candidates to get on the ballot.
