Brighton -
The Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center is participating in “Cover the Uninsured
The Cover the Uninsured campaign, now in its fifth year, started as a weeklong effort to raise awareness of the nearly 45 million Americans living without health insurance. This year the campaign will focus on demonstrating broad support for the reauthorization of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, a plan created to cover children whose parents work but cannot afford health insurance, and the overall need to cover America’s uninsured children. “Cover the Uninsured Week” will create a groundswell of activities across the country to highlight the success of SCHIP, demonstrate the need for public health programs for children, help uninsured children get enrolled in public coverage programs, and continue to press for coverage for all uninsured Americans.
The Smith Center will join in the activities by sponsoring enrollment fairs at its Allston facility throughout the week. The remaining schedule is as follows:
Tuesday, April 24, 9-12
Wednesday, April 25, 9-5
Thursday, April 26, 9-12
Friday, April 27, 9-12
The Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center provides comprehensive health care services for all individuals regardless of circumstance and has been serving the Allston-Brighton community for over 32 years. Outreach staff and health benefits counselors will be available throughout the week to answer questions about eligibility and public coverage programs. In addition, staff will be able to assist individuals in applying for coverage.
