Save our space

Let’s put our money into education, not new buildings. Let’s remodel what we have. Let’s not build new with no money left over for resources. Why does the town of Abington feel we need all new buildings? Let’s save the land, let’s not spoil it.
We all know, certainly not by choice, that the Abington School Committee has to keep making budget cuts. Cutting teachers, doing away with AP classes, language classes, sports and after school activities. The town doesn’t even have a DARE program anymore. But yet they feel we still need a brand new middle school. They feel we owe this to the children to have a brand new school environment. Let’s picture the children sitting behind a new desk without a teacher or a book.
Every time we turn around our town asks for more tax dollars from their residents. Let’s be smart. This is our town, our children and our land.
The above are not the only issues. Wetlands, roads, lights, traffic issues, maintenance of grounds, etc., etc. There’s not enough room on the page to write them all down. Things going on that most of us don’t even know about. As citizens of Abington we need to be informed of all these issues.
Let’s save Griffins Dairy, save Perecky’s, save our land. Let’s educate our children so they can grow up to save our environment. Let’s use our tax dollars wisely.
